The Cleave is a creative agency founded by Caitlin Barlow and Kathryn Renée Thomas, co-creators of the TV Land sitcom, Teachers. They are passionate about using edgy and empowering comedy to create community and social change.
The writers, comedians, and burnt-out moms, launched The Cleave as a satirical momfluencer social media project in 2021. It began as a way to cope with the stress of bring primary caretakers to young children during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In 2022, The Cleave was one of 12 projects chosen to participate in the Yes, And… Laughter Lab, a pitch competition run by the Center for Media and Social Impact at American University and the agency, Moore + Associates.
Since 2023, they have been collaborating with the non-profit, MomsRising, on social media content and creative branding.
